A Conversation with Tolkien

Hi, or should I say "mae govannen"? It means "hello" in Tolkien's language said in the Lord of the Rings. But why do I mention Tolkien and his language? The answer is because I will be sharing my thoughts on a project, in which I have used an AI tool, magic school, and its "character chatbox. Character chatbox allowed me to select a historical figure and have a conversation with them. Who I have chosen is apparently J. R. R. Tolkien, who has written the famous fictional books of "the Hobbit" and "the Lord of the Rings".

I have probably watched the movies a hundred times, I am saying this just because I am a great fan of him and his works. Magic school's character chatbox made me talk to him, and I felt as if I was really talking to him. It is a quite interesting AI tool. I have talked to a couple of different characters as well using character chatbox apart from Tolkien. The beginning of the character's responds shows how this AI tool want us to experience more realistic conversations such as "nods enthusiasticallystrokes his beard thoughtfully, a warm smile spreading across his face, chuckles etc. That part impressed me a lot. The hardest part was that the character answers the questions in a much detailed way, using more words than I expected. Even though I sometimes said "could you please briefly explain it?", I received long answers. That actually challenged me.

As I mentioned above, I generally praised the magic school AI tool. As a future English teacher, I definitely would love to apply this tool into the classroom and would want my future students benefit from it. Not just character chatbox, it includes a lot of helpful and interesting parts that I, as a teacher, and my future students will make advantage of it. I also used the feedback part for report review and it advised me such great recommendations I missed while writing on my own. This feature could be used and implemented in a lot of areas of the school lectures.
