A SHORT BREAK AND A COMPLETED TERM

My Semester of Teaching: Flipping, AI, AR, and More!

This semester was a great for experiments, tech tools, and breakthroughs. I started with the flipped classroom. Recording videos felt awkward at first (does anyone like hearing their own voice?), but once I started enjoying it, I was sure my future students would do as well. A highlight? Teaching directions. I and my friends made videos walking around the neighborhood, and students practiced giving and following directions in class. AI tools were my lifesavers. From creating a lot of sheets on Canva to searching for 3d videos, I saved so much time. Plus, tools like Chatgpt apps helped me give personalized feedback that made my students feel seen. But the real magic came with AR and VR. Using AR apps, my students “visited” landmarks like the Pyramids to practice spatial vocabulary. And let’s not forget corpus-based learning. It was nerdy but awesome, helping students spot real-world language patterns, like how a specific word is used in different contexts. It made English feel alive.

Sure, there were hiccups (like recording ourselves, we tried at least ten times), but imagining my future students excited, engaged, and learning made it all worth it. This semester taught me to embrace chaos, push boundaries, and rethink how students learn. If you’re a teacher thinking about diving into tech, do it. Start small, experiment, and watch the magic happen! Here’s to more adventures next semester.
